waiting for summer by =P0RG on deviantART
so far this year it has been the summer that wasn’t,, here in the land that time forgot.. i am sitting here in a tee shirt, a sweatshirt, sweatpants, two pairs of socks, and my robe,, looking at a clear blue sky and a temperature near 50 degrees.. it is taking everything i have not to build a fire..
this is the coldest summer i have ever spent here in the canyon.. i have never had to build fires in july,, or sleep with two comforters.. i have had to wear sweatshirts in the house every day but two so far this season,, and have yet to be able to open the windows and let the warm air in… i just cannot tell you how much i miss a warm summers day..
i have no central heat in my house,, my only heat source is a wood burning stove,, so come june i am so over being cold and hauling firewood,, i cannot wait to feel the warm summer sun and be able to open the windows and maybe even spend a few moments out in the beautiful sunshine.. but for some reason mother nature has another plan for us here this year.. she is holding off on summer,, and in case there is any question, , i am less than pleased..
fortunately today we were blessed with a clear blue sky in the morning instead of the usual fog so the day has possibilities.. but it doesn’t stop me from longing for a long hot summers day… they say maybe we will get an indian summer.. but as for me,, i would rather have had a few warm sunny months,, to warm my soul and fuel my inspiration…
so where ever you are,, i wish you sunshine and warm summer winds.. if nothing else,, then maybe i can live this summer vicariously thru you..

I always forget how cool California can be….but NOT that cool. Stay warm, Paisley.

May your weather become brighter. It’s good for the soul. I hate wretched summers. So far this year ours has been good, but we get many like the one you mention.

Girl, I feel you. This has been the rainiest summer of my life and the only summer wherein I do NOT have a tan!

It has been a cool summer here as well, dipping down into the 40s and 50s and night, which to me is great sleeping weather. Days are in the 70s, we have not broke 85 yet this summer. For me, I am enjoying the cool weather. I was down in Texas a couple weeks ago and the heat was horrific, combine that with the lack of green, mostly shades of brown and I was longing for the lushness of the mountains and valley where I live.
Hope you get the warm days that you desire soon.
BTW – love the new profile picture.

The summer here has been a bit cooler than usual but still we have had our fair share of warm days too. Today it was beautiful and in the earlier parts of the afternoon I was able to have my windows/ door opened. The fresh air filtered through nicely. I hope you can do the same soon as I hate to hear you’re missing summer so. Have a great night.

It is so hard when you are longing for those balmy summer winds and they just don’t materialise. Just being able to open the windows and walk barefoot through the grass is so good for the spirits. Hope summer comes to you soon…

I guess our Winter weather complements yours! At times it is quite warm for a short time during the day, but when the wind and rain come, the temperature will suddenly drop to freezing! Stays that way for a few days and then it all starts again! If nothing else, there have been absolutely beautiful skies just before and after rain! I must admit though, I love all the moods of weather! Always unpredictable!

It’s been the same here in Maine. This morning it’s 50 degrees. We haven’t hit 80 yet. And rain! My poor flowers almost drowned! So, I feel for ya!

although it reaches the 90’s daily, here in Nth Thailand, the sun is absent and the sky is grey, with rain falling constantly. this will be the case until about November., when the sun, which I know is out there somewhere, will reappear and dominate the sky until May/June next year…here’s hoping the rain takes a vacation in the meantime…

Summer is such a seductive emotional season. I yearn for hot nights and crickets singing as I sleep. When I say I feel for you I truly mean it. Build a fire and be warm. Not even summer should deny you that comfort! It is cold here too. But it is always cold so I have banned “weather talk” at our house. My husband loves the subject and it just drives me nuts!!
Thank you for your comments on the blog.

Poor thing! I can’t imagine it’s still that cold there. That’s really cold for July. You might want to take a weekend trip to some warmth…if not, here’s a little sunshine and warmth from me! PLL, C.

Sorry couldn’t even read the story yet. Saw your new photo (Use it everywhere!) and you are so beautiful. Wow. Inside and outside. I have such good looking friends.

We’ve tolerated the long rains of spring here in Iowa, that nearly started the floods again, then waited and waited for the warmth…I wore out my two quilts putting on, taking off…sweats, then shorts…then summer arrived with mid to upper 90’s for two weeks, now we expect cooling again to 50’s at night…but days are perfect 72-88 with sunshine and an occasional rain, I sleep at night with the smell of summer wafting through my bedroom in the upstairs of this creaky ol’ farmhouse…wishing for it to never end…I do that every year…to no avail…it always turns to winter.

On the few nice days we have had.. I have had to work.
sheeeesh! I may get those drawers done after all.
wishing you the sunshine you so deserve to bask in sweetie!

So far over here summer has been a couple of hot days followed days and days of torrential rain. It’s developed into a pattern.

I’m with you on this, though the days have warmed recently here in Chicago. Not above 90, though, which is unusual this time of year. …it makes me worry about the winter to come… Lovely.

Id be happy to send some heat your way Paisley. Its about a gazillion degrees (or so it seems) here in Interior BC. I am NOT a hot weather fan, Im waiting for some rain to cool things down. Sorry to read you are so cold…that is a bit chilly for summer.
Hugs and stay warm, G

Portland is not usually hot, even in the summer. This year we have had a lot more than our share of 98+ days. We’ve even had a handful of 100+ days. This weekend it is supposed to reach triple digits. This is July. We still have our hot month, August, to go! The weather seems to have flip flopped. We haven’t even had any rain in over ten days, which is strange four our part of the country!

Having been recently close to where you are, I believe it! But we did get gorgeous sunshine one evening before sunset and all the way up the coast was so beautiful. The weather you’ve described helps me brood if I don’t have anything else on my agenda just describing the way things are. Somehow, it satisfies me and helps me appreciate a patch of sunshine even more when it finally arrives.
