trapped
within the taught walls
of my heart,,
a bird, perhaps a starling,
beats her wings furiously
against my internal cage,
struggling to break free..
filled with fear
and anxiety
she flutters her wings desperately
against my chest,
yet i cannot set her free..
and it is because
she reamains trapped,,
that i cannot sing…

Your words hit me like a ton of bricks this morning Paisley. How I long to feel free again…. there are many forms that cages can take.

Hugs and hang in there, G

Those cages can be terrible things. Great words.

Very poignant Paisley. Sometimes we need to find ourself again. We can lose who we are when we don’t take time to remember why we are who we are. Self reflection isn’t easy, but it’s cathartic at times to renew ones self.

Sometimes no matter how hard we try the cage door just won’t open. You captured that feeling so well. I suspect that soon, however, very soon, your bird will sing again.

When set free from the cage the starling will sing like a nightingale! :)

    My 55 is posted.

Cages generally have a door! All that is needed is a “key” that fits! Love the play on “taught”/”taut”!

    paisley,
Ironically it’s the song sung that frees the bird. ;)

a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams, his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream, his wings are clipped and his feet are tied,so he opens his throat to sing.
